Greetings from New Mexico! I’m a farm gal, wife, mother, and grandmother who loves to write. I recently retired from 27+ years of teaching young children in the public schools and look forward to spending more time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. Through my writing, I hope to share my faith in a God who has blessed me with grace and peace through His Son’s sacrifice.
I write poetry, devotions, and children’s stories and am working on a couple of inspirational novels. One of my stories appears in Laundry Tales to Lighten Your Load, a Celebrate Moms book published by Evergreen Press in 2007. Click here for more information on the book.
Here I am in one of my favorite spots on the farm.
And here’s a picture of my farmer hubby of almost 38 years. We love living in the country!
This blog will be used to share country experiences, devotional thoughts, and blessings of everyday life. Since I love poetry, pieces I’ve written will be posted from time to time on the blog. Hopefully, they will be useful to scrapbookers, moms, and teachers. Please feel free to use the poems, just keep my name with them. I’d love to hear how you used them, and am sure others would, too. So, if you have time, please leave a comment if the piece has been helpful.
Devotional writing is also a favorite of mine, so you’ll see some of that here, too. Please feel welcome to use the devotions, if you’d like. As with the poetry, please keep my name with them and let me know how they were used.
I hope you enjoy my blog and may all who peruse its pages be blessed!
Also, don’t forget to check out the Literary Log page. I have been blessed tremendously by writer friends who have encouraged me in the writing profession. On that page, you’ll find tips and suggestions that have helped me along the way. Hopefully, they will help you, too. Enjoy!

Cute pics…I will have to show the boys the one of their Bah Pah Moo Moo!!!
Hey Barb,
Look who’s blogging. Why didn’t you take Laundry Tales to the confernce? Maybe at Marvel.
This is very much you! How every do you find the time with all that you do?
I am slowly learning from watching my good friend Karen Ransom!
Barb! I’m so glad I looked around and found your blog. This is wonderful! I remember talking with you years ago in Clayton and Mary’s house. You got me interested in Janette Oake! I was a young wife and had never read her and now have read ALL her books and many more authors! I am an avid reader as well and Rex tells me I should write. I admire great writers more than anything! I look forward to reading your works!
Oh, you should write! Start now while you are young. You are such a witness, and God uses our struggles for His glory!
Goodmorning Barbara from the Borchers in CA. So sorry to hear about your accident. We heard about the accident through the grapevine. Glad to hear you are doing better. Tell Jim Hi from us & hope to see you both in July at the family reuion.
Hi Joy and Lamonte! Thanks for visiting my site. Im finally up and around. Maybe I can catch up here now a bit. We’re looking forward to this summer.
Goodness, me , Barb. I had no idea about the accident. I’m sorry to hear about it. However, I can already tell that your attitude is one of relying on God. I pray that he will continue to hold you up in courage and patience for what you must be going through. You are so right about family and friends. They are there when times are tough.
God Bless,
Karen Cogan
Thanks so much, Karen!
Hi, Barbara,
I don’t know if you know me but I’m a friend of Karen and Leroy. My wife, Marilyn, teaches 2nd grade at Northeast School in Farmington (for the next 40 days). She’s retiring this year.
I just read your email to Karen about your “condition” wanted to let you know of a wellness business that we are we have and would like to suggest some possibilities to help you. No pressure, just let us know if you are interested.
We’ll put you on our prayer list and promise to use it.

Barbara, I had a roommate in Aztec in the 1970′s. My roommate was a teacher. I also taught school.. She had a sister named Barbara. They were from Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Her name was Beverly Nossaman. Judy Bennett
PS I get emails with your name on them from my Pastor, Brother Rod Conover.
Hi Judy!
I’m so glad to hear from you. Yes, Rod is a good friend. He and I were co-presidents of the Educational Retirees for SJ County last year. And yes! Beverly is my sister! Did you retire from education? How fun! Bev is retired…twice. She retired from Roswell public schools and then again from Crownpoint Public Schools (BIA) last year. She’s really enjoying her retirement. Let’s keep in touch!
blessings,
Barb
Hey, Barb. Just looked to see what cousin John found so interesting. We have an electric thing that goes through our downspout and gutter. We plug it in when conditions warrant and no more frozen stuff. I didn’t get any pfish.
Ahhh. Thanks for the tip, Jean. We’ll start looking. And thanks for stopping by my blog. What with all the remodeling and my mom being sick, I’m a bit behind here on my entries!
